Bikini Trends – Zebra Print Bikinis

In our last post we discussed bikini trends well in this post we are going to talk about the most excellent zebra print bikinis.

The zebra print bikini whether in halter style, tie side bottom or padded top has a variety of cuts to suit every body shape and this summer the zebra print is going to be huge.

Partially fuelled by the recent retro trend or maybe because there is something quite sexy and animalistic about animal patterns but demand for the zebra print keeps on growing. A simply black and white colour scheme with slightly off lines helps to soften and accentuate even the most unflattering curves. If you need further proof of how amazing the zebra print is just take a look at how many of this year miss world contestants wore animal print for the swimsuit round.

Zebra print is more tasteful that the 80s craze of leopard print (which made a bit of a comeback a couple of years ago) due to like we said above the classy colour match of black and white. T he zebra print bikini that seems to have a timeless popularity, surviving season after season, seemingly taking place as a staple must have like the simple black bikini but with a little more fun, and enjoying seasonal increased popularity as it has over the last two season and would seem to this coming spring/summer beach season.

Recent celebrities we have spotted rocking out a zebra bikini include – Kim Kardashian, Heidi Montag, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Michelle Geller and Jessica Alba. Now are you tempted to buy one?

Ever since the very first bikini was made, animal patterns have been masivly popular. Slap bang in the middle of World War two, Australian fashion designer Paula Stafford who was facing a shortage of materials dreamed up the idea of two piece swimwear. It had little to do with style and more to do with saving the limited fabric available. The two piece suit at the time was a scandalous suggestion, and actually did not reveal itself until the mid 1950’s when Paula donned the bikini herself and appeared on the famous Surfers Paradise beach on the east coast of Australia, shocking and tantalizing the beach goers.

I digress. But the story of the bikini is a fascinating one and if it wasn’t for Paula Stafford we wouldn’t be blogging today about the wonderful world of zebra print bikinis.
