How To Pick Maternity Swimwear
Oh look here comes summer again, poking it’s warm and sunny head around the corner. However if this summer you find yourself pregnant, picking the right maternity swimwear can seem like a fate worse than death.
So just what type of maternity swimwear do you pick that wont make you look inappropriate? Well here is a useful guide to maternity swimwear. Just like maternity clothes; picking the right swimwear can be a nightmare. This guide will make picking maternity swimwear a piece of cake.
First lets take a look a the tankini; the little black dress of the maternity swimwear world. The 2 piece gives you the feel of a bikini while the belly skimming style gives you a flirty look combined with a bit of modesty for those of us who do not want to show their entire expecting tummy at the pool. Because the tankini top usually comes with adjustable straps, this offers better support for larger busted women.
The second style we are going to take a look at is my personal favourite; the halterkini. Halterkinis are a great alternative to bikinis and they typically have an adjustable tie around the neck which results in a very feminine, very slimming figure without putting pressure on the belly or bust.
Finally if you are looking for more coverage and more support then you should look at the babydoll style swimwear. The babydoll fully covers the belly while providing adequate support to the bust. This style of maternity swimwear has a great elasticised waist so will fit for most stages of your pregnancy.
So what about bikinis for pregnancy? Well personally I know a lot of women find they dig into their belly when seated and some like to cover up stretch marks on their stomach but at the end of the day, you should wear what you feel best in and if that’s a bikini then wear a bikini.
Personally I find the best place to look for maternity swimwear is to look at the American sites, they seem to have better ranges than here in the UK. Belabumbum’s nursing/maternity tankini is a personal favourite in hot pink. This suit is designed for both maternity and postpartum with discreet nursing access. Very cute and sassy! This suit also comes in solid black.
