How To Spot The Latest Swimwear Trends

At this time of year celebrity magazines, TV, radio and newspapers are crammed full of ‘latest beach diets’ and articles on hot and up-and-coming trends for this years beach season. Many people ask me just how I spot the latest swimwear trends each year.

Well the first way is slightly obvious, I read every magazine on the market with swimwear photos in. Next I scour the web looking at swimwear websites for popular new styles. That’s the greatest thing about the internet. It’s easy to look at what swim stores across the pond are selling. The final thing I do is take a look at California fashion and surf boutiques for ideas. It’s always great when you go to buy designer clothes because you get that feeling of luxury and excitement that you are buying something exclusive.

Just what makes a swimsuit trendy?
Well for me it’s simple. It comes down to 3 things:

  • Prints and Patterns
    Diagonal and vertical stripes, swirls, animal prints, geometrical patterns, polka dots (both big and small), plaids, European prints and bold floral prints are all making a big come back this season.
  • Colors and shades
    Classic blacks and whites never go out of fashion. Neither do vibrant, vivid colours like red, pink, green, fuchsia and hues of blue.
  • Designing Details
    Mother always said that the devil is in the detail and with swimwear this is no exception. Sometimes it’s the subtle little things that jump out and make you think – this style is going to be huge this summer.

What’s going to be hot this summer?
There are some things that will never go out of style because they are design classics. Bikinis and one piece designer swimwear will never cease to be popular, neither will string bikinis or halter necks. The 70s style of bandini are starting to see a huge up surge in popularity as are camakini, especially in maternity swimwear whos customer base might still want to hide a little bit of their post pregnancy tummy.

Swimsuit styles will never go out of fashion; patterns and colours always come in and out but the most important thing is that you are comfortable in what you are wearing. Feel good and you will always look good.

One final note about how to spot the latest swimwear trends is remember to accessories. The perfect pair of sunglasses or bangle can really set an outfit off and make you queen of the beach.
